Pelvis #5 - Answers

  1. Posterior dislocation of the left hip joint.
  2. Fracture of the posterior lip of the left acetabulum.
  3. Failed reduction attempt due to interposed fracture fragment.

The post-reduction CT shows a large fragment of bone lying in the anteromedial joint space (arrow), preventing the femoral head from relocating completely. Also note that the posterior acetabular lip is blunted, representing a donor site for the intra-articular fragment.

Select the image above to see a more detailed and labelled version. The medial joint space widening is shown by the double-headed arrow, and the single-headed arrows outline the intra-articular fragment.
